  • Today's Headlines: 20 killed, 11 injured in Kwara road crash, We Have Commenced Registration – Glo AkwaOnlineJan 31, 2021 9:18 AM Today's Headlines: 20 killed, 11 injured in Kwara road crash, We Have Commenced Registration – Glo 1) 20 killed, 11 injured in Kwara road crash Twenty persons reportedly lost their lives in a road accident at Olokonla, along Bode-Saadu-Jebba Expressway in the Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State on Saturday. Seventeen of the victims were burnt to death while 11 others sustained varying degrees of injury. The Kwara State Fire Service and the state Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps blamed the crash on speeding and wrongful overtaking. 2) We Have Commenced Registration – Glo Enrolment of people who are yet to register for their National Identification Number (NIN) has commenced immediately at Glo outlets. The Nigerian Identity Management Commission (NIMC) granted approval license to Globacom last week to commence NIN enrolment for people who are yet to register. A statement released by Globacom on Friday indicates that the company has already deployed devices aligned with NIMC standards and has commenced the exercise in several Gloworld outlets, adding that arrangements are being concluded for retail outlets that are not live yet for NIN enrolment to also begin soon. The Company urged subscribers who are yet to link their NIN with their mobile numbers, to text their NIN to 109, adding that they can also dial *109# to submit their NIN or call 109 to update their NIN via voice call. It assured customers of its commitment to memorable calling experience on the Glo network and its unalloyed support for Government’s efforts to create a secure and sustainable industry. 3) LASU students disapprove governor’s school fees reduction The students of the Lagos State University, LASU, have rejected the reduction approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on their tuition fee. They demand that the fees it totally reversed to the old rate. Previously, governor Sanwo-Olu approved that the school fees be reduced from 67,000 to 57,000. A N10,000 reduction per session payable by new intakes from 2020/21 session. LASU students in a statement released on Saturday by the Public Relations Officer of the Student Union Government, Adams Zaenab Olawumi, said what the students wanted was a reversal to the old rate of N25,000. 4) Police arrest cultists threatening to kill man who refused initiation The police in Ogun State have arrested three suspected members of Eiye Confraternity for threatening to kill one Teslim Lateef who refused initiation into their group. The suspects – Olajide Shittu, 32, Emmanuel Fidelis, 29, and Sunkanmi Ifelodun, 39 – were arrested following a report lodged at the Ajuwon Police Station. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday
