• THE ANSWER IS THE CONVENANT
  • Hebrews 6:17 (KJV)* *17 Wherein God, WILLING MORE ABUNDANTLY to shew unto the heirs of promise the IMMUTABILITY of his counsel, CONFIRMED it by an OATH:* Are you wondering how your goals, visions and dreams are going to come to fruition? Maybe your heart is beginning to faint because of the overwhelming facts and figures that present themselves! As a child of God, you never have to be in that place ever again! You never have to wonder whether the answer to your prayer will manifest or not because your union with the Father is established on what can never fail. God has an answer that will erase all of your fears! He is more than willing to assure your faith. He can be trusted fully! Our text says God’s way of showing you that His Word is sure to come to pass is by an oath! The word _oath_ in this verse means, _a sacred restraint_. This sacred restrain is the covenant. An oath is what gives two parties or more the assurance that each party will abide by what they have agreed. You see, Abraham had all kinds of questions when God spoke to Him about possessing the land of Canaan. It looked like an impossible thing despite the fact that God had pronounced the blessing over him in Genesis 12:1-3. Abraham at some point in his life asked God, _*“… Lord GOD, whereby shall I KNOW that I shall inherit it?”*_ (Genesis 15:8) The question didn’t upset God; rather He was willing to prove His commitment to bringing His Word to pass in Abraham’s life. He reassured Abraham’s faith by cutting a covenant with him. Genesis 15:9-13 says, _*“And He (God) said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. 10 AND HE TOOK UNTO HIM ALL THESE, AND DIVIDED THEM IN THE MIDST, and LAID EACH PIECE ONE AGAINST ANOTHER:”*_ When Abraham cut these animals which are a type of Christ into halves, there was a pool of blood that formed a walkway in which God stood and swore to Abraham (Genesis 15:12-18). God cut a covenant with Abraham not because He was afraid of keeping His own Word; rather the covenant was to reassure Abraham’s faith and confidence because Abraham knew that the only way out of a blood covenant is death! God was literally saying to Abraham, *“I’ll cease to be God if My Words do not come to pass in your life”* (Hebrew 6:16-18). Once an agreement can be confirmed in a covenant of blood (oath), it means it cannot be negated. Galatians 3:15 says, _*“Friends, let me give you an example from everyday affairs of the free life I am talking about. Once a person's WILL has been RATIFIED, NO ONE else can ANNUL it or add to it*_ (MSG). The Word of God (His Will) has been sanctioned and settled in the blood of Jesus. You may be wondering what your own part is in this covenant. Like Abraham, your part is to sleep and allow God bring His Word to pass. Scripture tells us in Genesis 15:12 that God caused a deep sleep to come over Abraham! Hebrews 7:7 says, _*“In acts of blessing, THE LESSER IS BLESSED BY THE GREATER”*_ (MSG). In your covenant with God, you are the lesser because you brought nothing and God is the greater because He has everything to give to you because of Jesus! Whenever those thoughts come to you again, remember: “God has given you ‘a rock-solid guarantee’ through the covenant that cannot fail. Thank Him for the blood of the covenant that cannot fail! *DECLARE* || *Thank You Father because of the blood of the covenant we share in Christ Jesus. I can stand upon every Word that you have spoken to me without fear and be rest assured that all that you have said to me always comes to pass. I refuse to be afraid or moved by the signs, symptoms and contradictory facts because Jesus’ finished that can NEVER fail gives me confidence.
