The fight against terrorism recorded a massive victory as a top Boko Haram commander surrendered to the Nigerian troops alongside his four wives. Major General John Enenche, the coordinator of the defence media operation, made this known in a statement released on Thursday, September 24. Enenche also revealed that at least seven bandits were killed by the troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole, adding that eight people kidnapped were also rescued at Fankama and Sabon Layi area of Faskari local government area of Katsina.

Source: UGC He also revealed that the successful operations led to the arrest of one Boko Haram fighter at Kamuya in Biu local government area of Borno. According to him, nine other criminals were also busted in Wukari local government area of Taraba state. Part of the statement read: "Notably, a high profile BHT commander, surrendered with 4 of his wives to own troops. The operations also led to the arrest of one BHT fighter at Kamuya in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State and 9 other criminals in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State. "Caches of arms and ammunition as well as equipment and motorcycles were also recovered. Meanwhile, troops repelled BHT/ISWAP attacks on civilians and own troops at Wajiroko in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State on 17 and 20 September 2020 and neutralized several of their fighters and recovered arms and ammunition .
Major-General Enenche, who also made the announcement, stated that top Boko Haram terrorists including Abu Usman, Alhaji Shettima and Modu Mainok were eliminated in the clearance process. The media coordinator also revealed that many people were rescued while instruments belonging to the Boko Haram fighters were destroyed.
