• Police man arrested as girlfriend dies in hotel room
  • Police operatives from the Lagos state Command have arrested a Police officer identified as Anthony Kachukwu, over his girlfriend’s death in a hotel in the Surulere area of the state. It was gathered that the lady, Justina Omofuma, passed the night with her lover, Anthony, but lost consciousness and fell to the ground, as a result she sustained injuries on her forehead that led to her tragic death. A source explained that the deceased female, Justina, was sitting on a chair when Anthony went into the toilet, but on his return to the room, he met her on the floor completely lifeless and all efforts to revive her proved abortive. Anthony reported the incident at the Surulere Police Division, where he was eventually arrested and locked behind bars. The corpse of the deceased was taken out and deposited in the Mainland hospital’s mortuary for autopsy. However, a resident simply identified as Adeoti said her family did not press charges, claiming they knew Anthony and Justina were lovers. He said, “Justina’s family know that they were both lovers and they never suspected any foul play. All they wanted was for them to perform her burial rites; so, they didn’t allow the police to continue the investigation or conduct an autopsy to reveal the cause of death. The incident occurred on July 26, 2020.” Speaking on the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the family withdrew the case, which made it impossible to determine the cause of her death. Adejobi, also added that Anthony was undergoing orderly room trial for other disciplinary matters.
